What Are Ya

I'm never coming out of my bedroom again. Tell the children! No wait - I can send them a message from my

                                                        new laptop.

I can feel an obsession coming on...Perhaps a small fridge and a dumb waiter for the dirty dishes. I have an ensuite, so hygiene is covered.

I really have nothing to post, I just wanted to show off. But this video does follow up my last post quite well: TISM (This Is Serious Mum), late of Melbourne, being irreverent again. The jolly thing about TISM is that in the 20 odd years they've been playing, no public audience has ever seen their faces. Clever...

Language warning.

Anger is an energy, May the road rise with you.

Cripes! This virus hangs on like a leech.

Here's a song.

By my favourite feral beauty, John Lydon.

and In The End the Love You Take is Equal To the Love you Make

Pp04 I just love this picture. It does great things for my brain and eyes. It delivers untold and deep levels of satisfaction to my general sense of well being.

You could say I'm a Beatles fan.

And by God, you'd be spot on, laddie. I do hope someone remembers to put this picture on the head of my coffin when I'm dead. Hee hee.

This one's for Cherry. Frontman is Timmy Finn (Liam's uncle), first crazy dude to appear in background with guitar is Neil Finn (Liam's dad).

From 1982. Split Enz

"Dirty Creature's got me and he gets the knowledge from the inside..."  Ah Depression.

(Can anyone tell me how to centre videos?)

Dig Yourself:What Do We Know Of The Dead And Who Actually Cares

I don't know what it is about Nick Cave, but for years I avoided any of his music, considering it too... let's see, precious? No...perhaps just too obscure for me.

Snippets that I allowed my ears fell deafly.

Now I think he's a dark and brilliant entirely hilarious musical genius. An acquired taste no doubt.

Dig, Lazarus, Dig!

Gabriella Cilmi

We have ourselves one hell of a talented girl here my friends. Age 16, origins from Melbourne.  When I see such things, I can stop fretting about what is happening to and for young women.

But more than that, this is a stunning tune.

Dedicated to my father who died 14 years ago today. I imagine he would nod and give out a quiet chuckle in response to my enthusiasm for this beautiful singer.

The Only Woman Record Producer To Ever Get A Grammy

Artpic11 I was driving from one school to another and switched over to Triple J, an Oz radio station with a long and respected history of promoting independent and interesting musicians.

They're running a series on record producers at the moment and happy oh happy moments for me- I got to fluke the only interview with a woman. And she got a grammy for her work.

Of this, Trina said something like, "Hey like I'm the prom queen, I'm the freaking cheerleader now..." when she heard. She's still the only female to grab the title.

Trina's produced bands such as Queens of the Stone Age and Something for Kate.

I sat for an inappropriately long time listening to this interview in a local high school carpark. At the interview's conclusion, I lifted the boot, jumped out of the car and said, "Shit I miss Americans". (That's a personal outburst there). But suffice it to say, the only Americans I've ever met are way cool, and those American women, well they rock. And now I've lost my beloved Theresa Duncan it was like a dreamy sort of thing to hear this.

You want inspiration honey? Here she is: Trina Shoemaker.

Irish Blessings and A Finger Up As Well

_1406579_oconnor_b_3001 Here is a little story about Sinead O'Connor (favoured Irish person) from 2001. What a fabulously interesting woman.

And here is a song from the same inspired woman from oh... sometime ago too:

Never one to do tiddly bits, Sinead just tells it like it is, sings from the heart and remains another heroine.

Words From The Other

  • A woman once came up to William James, after he had delivered a lecture on cosmology, and assured him that the world rested on the back of a giant turtle. "But what does the turtle rest on?" James asked. "Another turtle," she replied. James paused, and the lady anticipated his question: "I know what you're going to ask, Professor James, and it's turtles all the way down." - from Whiskey River
